English: 10,298 GRT cadet training ship MV Otaio, built in 1930 by Vickers, Armstrong at Barrow-in-Furness. She belonged to the New Zealand Shipping Company but was registered in Falmouth, England. The German submarine U-558 sank her in the Western Approaches by torpedo on 28 August 1941. (From description provided from photograph). |
